A bedroom refresh—having a plan makes all the difference!

The most common request from my clients is a plea to help them disrupt their rut. As you can see from the "before"Â picture, this bedroom had been on the back burner for far too long. The owners share their home with two (large and independent) boys and craved a cozy oasis they could relax in. Realizing the neglect, the skilled woodworker husband crafted this stunning teal wall that they saw on Instagram. But they didn't have a plan or vision as to what to do next.
The couple shared a few preferences, and I helped them navigate the areas where they disagreed. He hoped the artwork could be historic relief maps of Saint Augustine, but she wanted nautical. She wanted color but didn't know how to complement the teal. While florals were off the table, botanicals were acceptable. They did not want to change their nightstands, and he didn't want a rug. We all agreed that the all-white had to go!
The final design direction
After they considered options, this design board below was the ultimate winner that the couple decided on.
Pulling it together—it's all in the details!
Once the design board and direction were finalized, I ordered all the material samples to assess the colors and textures. I then put together a custom William + Bailey Sample Box, allowing my clients to see and touch the materials in their home, enhancing their confidence before making any purchases or beginning implementation. Take a look at the stunning rug that the husband initially thought was unnecessary. It provides the perfect anchor for the furniture, beautifully complementing the cohesive design.
The final result?
Wa La! A completely refreshed oasis with layered patterns and textures. I found nautical relief maps of the water the family boats on, with the perfect color palette to complement the linens and rug, adding a personal narrative to the design. Finding the right fabric to customize pillows added a truly unique and lux vibe.
