Transforming a Saint Augustine Airbnb: a before and after renovation

The first time I walked into this Florida beach Airbnb, it had zero appeal, was gloomy and

Swap a wall for a French door.

The challenge was a disproportionately large, dark utility room in the middle of the home. Tearing out a wall, reconfiguring a closet, and adding a French door did the trick, carving out much-needed, valuable space. With the view in mind, the space has become a favorite cozy spot to start the day with a cup of coffee or end it with a glass of wine.

The juxtaposition of two natural materials- warm, vintage rattan meets cool stone,

is a match made in heaven! Custom upholstery is the cherry on top.

I opened a wall and designed display shelving that transformed the dark, gloomy hallway into an open, airy space with natural sunlight and beautiful views of lush vegetation. What a huge improvement. Don't you agree?

Draw Inspiration from nature

An essential element of this design is how the inside palette and the outdoor landscaping work in unison, creating a serene, open, light-filled space. Local dune flowers and palm trees inspired the color palette.
